Here's how it works.
Three things, then you're in.
Wakeboarding is snowboarding on water. Instead of a boat there's a cable, like a ski lift: it pulls you, you just let it.
1 · On the dock
Five minutes on land. The instructor shows you how to hold the handle, where to put your weight and what happens when the cable starts. The only hard part is the first start.
2 · You start in the water
You sit in the water with the board on your feet. The cable pulls gently, you keep your arms straight and let it lift you. The board floats and the vest holds you up: falling costs you nothing.
3 · Ten minutes, all yours
The line is 230 metres long, you turn at the end and come back. The instructor adjusts the speed to how you're doing. Once it clicks there are six floating obstacles waiting.

The cable
A snowpark
that floats
It's a two-tower System 2.0, built by three local companies. One rider at a time, ten-minute sessions, and a straight 230-metre line with a turn at the end.
Along the line there are six floating features — kickers, boxes and rails — for jumps and slides. Just like a snowpark, except you land in the water.

Adjustable speed
The instructor controls the cable from the dock. It starts slow and only speeds up when you're ready.

The no-wind day
isn't a lost day
When the Ora doesn't show up and you're stuck on the beach, here you don't need wind at all: the cable does the pulling. If you already stand on a board you're halfway there, and ten minutes is enough to find out whether wakeboarding is for you. Thirty kilometres from Riva, forty minutes.

Frequently asked
Do I need to be a good swimmer?
The vest keeps you afloat and the board floats too, so you don't need to swim well. You just need to be comfortable in water — an instructor is always on the dock.
Will I manage on my first try?
Almost everyone gets up on the board during their first 10-minute session. There's a short lesson on the dock first, then you start from the water.
What's the minimum age?
Six years old. For the youngest, an instructor can go into the water with them.
What should I bring?
Swimwear and a towel. Board, helmet and vest are included; wetsuits are available when the water's cool.
What if it rains?
Rain is fine — you're getting wet anyway. We only close for thunderstorms: if you'd booked, we credit the ride back.
